Hurricane Irene Relief Efforts: How You Can Help

SUNY Cobleskill continues its efforts to assist those affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, which devastated large parts of the Schoharie Valley. Many residents, farmers, business owners and members of the campus community have been forced to abandon their property, while others remain in hopes that their homes and business can be restored or rebuilt.

All members of the SUNY Cobleskill family are asked to consider donating your time and resources to assist the many efforts being coordinated by the Office of Communiversity Affairs. Here's how you can help:

 ALL DAY Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11 – Volunteer for a Red Cross team. Report to the Cobleskill Fairgrounds t 7 a.m. and you will be provided with breakfast and bussed to one of the Red Cross collection/distribution sites throughout the county. Help is needed to receive, sort and distribute donations, among other assignments. After returning to the fairgrounds, dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m. (NOTE: Please indicate if you need transportation to and/or from the fairgrounds).

 HALF DAY Saturday, Sept. 10 – Busses will depart Knapp Circle at 9 a.m., traveling to the Lutheran Church in Schoharie and Town Hall in Middleburgh, for various assignments. Dress in work clothes. Lunch and supplies will be provided. Busses return to Knapp Circle at 1:30 p.m.

 FORM YOUR OWN TEAM anytime during the week and receive spot assignments. Establish a team leader as a single point of contact and have him/her contact the Office of Communiversity Affairs.
