SUNY Cobleskill Presents “Mental Health: Let’s Talk About It” – March 27
March 12, 2013
In an effort to raise awareness of mental health issues and reduce the stigma of mental illness, the Beard Wellness Center at SUNY Cobleskill is hosting Mental Health: Let’s Talk About It, featuring Anna Arroyo, Wednesday, March 27, at 7:00 pm in Bouck Theater. Ms. Arroyo will share her personal experience with depression, eating disorders, and suicide. Joining us that evening will be representatives from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, providing educational and awareness information. The event is free of charge.
SUNY Cobleskill invites community members to attend this dynamic presentation. Suicide prevention is a community’s issue. Awareness of mental health issues is the first step toward preventing suicide.
About the Beard Wellness Center
The Beard Wellness Center provides leadership for mental health awareness on the SUNY Cobleskill campus. From the time a student sets foot on campus, SUNY Cobleskill provides multiple educational messages regarding mental health awareness. These programs occur in the classroom, residence halls, and community forums. The Beard Wellness Center is a merged service center, providing both medical and mental health services to currently enrolled students. The Beard Wellness Center is one of only a handful of college health centers in New York State that is accredited by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care.
