SUNY Cobleskill's International Education Director Awarded Fulbright to Visit Korea
Dr Susan Jagendorf-Sobierajski, Executive Director of International Education at SUNY Cobleskill, was selected as one of eight award winners who will receive a 2013 Fulbright International Education Administrators grant to visit Korea in June. The grant will allow Dr. Jagendorf-Sobierajski and seven other international education professionals or senior higher education officials from the U.S. to meet with representatives from Korean universities and agencies in the private and government sector.
The goal of the program is to allow U.S. higher education officials to create empowering connections with the societal, cultural and higher education systems in other countries. Grantees receive round-trip travel, lodging, and a per diem that includes a meal allowance for those meals not provided.
“SUNY Cobleskill has begun to work with South Korean institutional and organizational partners to increase international student enrollment, so the opportunity to learn about and forge stronger connections in South Korea will benefit our institution,” Jagendorf-Sobierajski said.
“SUNY Cobleskill’s efforts in establishing a SUNY Korea initiative have received the endorsement of the Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs,” said Deb Thatcher, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Cobleskill. “This is not only a great honor for Dr. Jagendorf-Sobierajski and the College, but it is also a great opportunity for her to further enhance the program that she has already been instrumental in developing.”
Dr. Jagendorf-Sobierajski will join other awardees at an orientation session in St. Louis, Missouri, at the 65th Annual Conference & Expo for NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, in late May. The group will fulfill their grant duties in Korea from June 9th to 22nd.
