SUNY Cobleskill Paramedic Program To Hold its First Annual Winter Symposium

The SUNY Cobleskill Paramedic Program will hold its first annual Winter Symposium on Saturday, January 11, 2014 on the SUNY Cobleskill campus. Registration has already begun and runs until January 1, 2014. A fee of $60 covers five workshops, a continental breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.

The event will begin with registration from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. in Wheeler Hall Room 100. Opening remarks at 8:00 am will be given by Howard E. Huth, III, Director of the SUNY Cobleskill Paramedic Program. Paul Werfel, a nationally recognized speaker and Director of the SUNY Stony Brook Paramedic Program, will give the opening presentation, and Lee Burns, Director of the NYS DOH Bureau of EMS, will speak at the closing session.

Workshops will allow participants to learn from local and national-level speakers in a wide variety of continuing education courses in a classroom or hands-on format in our new paramedic facility. Classes are designed to be relevant to today's EMS career and all levels of EMS providers, EMT to Paramedic, are encouraged to attend. Seven hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit will be issued for all-day attendance. A certificate will be awarded at the end of the conference.

"We are excited to host our first annual Winter Symposium,” Huth said. “Our goal is to be able to deliver high-quality continuing education at a reasonable cost in order to support our local EMS community needs. We are honored to have seasoned professionals from the local area and beyond come together to support our inaugural endeavor.”
