SUNY Cobleskill Students Elected National Leaders

Two SUNY Cobleskill students were elected to national office at the National Postsecondary Agricultural Students (PAS) Conference held in Dallas, TX from March 12-16. Betsy Jensen of Penn Yan and Kenny Holderied of Bridgewater, NJ, will both serve as National PAS vice presidents for the coming year.  SUNY Cobleskill Agricultural Engineering Instructor Matthew Hibbard ‘94 was selected to serve as the coordinator of the National PAS Agricultural Machinery Service Technician Award Program for the next three years.

Several students placed in career development contests. Sara Scheeren of Greenwich was the first place national winner in Career Planning in horticulture. Nichole Gretta of Ivoryton, Conn. placed third in Agricultural Equipment. In the employment interview contest Lynsey Jensen of Prattsburgh placed second in animal health, Lea Schlenker of Greenville came in second in crop production and Ryan Clark of Argyle placed third in dairy production. In Floriculture, Jessica Greenfield of Schenectady came in third place and placed second in the Career Progress, Horticulture contest. For Agricultural Sales, Dan Young of Truxton took third place, and Aaron Schrader of Romulus and Nicholas Stanton of Feura Bush were members of the third place Agricultural Machinery Technician team.

While current SUNY Cobleskill students were being elected to new national offices, two alumni were completing their terms. Miranda Clayson ’07 of Hinsdale and Jeremy Elliot-Engel ’07 of Cuba completed their year of service as the national PAS secretary and vice president, respectfully.
