New President Arrives at SUNY Cobleskill
There will be a new face on the platform at SUNY Cobleskill’s 90th Commencement on Saturday, May 17. The new man on campus is also the new president on campus, Dr. Donald Zingale, whose first official day on the job was May 1.
The college’s eleventh president most recently served as vice president for academic affairs at The California Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University. Previously, Dr. Zingale was the founding dean of the College of Health & Human Services at San Francisco State University.
Building on an unofficial three-week visit to campus this past March, Zingale says his immediate plans are to continue to orient himself to the college and the community through the summer, share his observations with campus leaders, and determine immediate initiatives to be brought forward at the college’s fall convocation.
“SUNY Cobleskill is an unusual institution, in the very best sense of that word,” said the new president. “The most immediate challenge will be to find the common ground that will unify the campus in a seamless way.”
