Summer Orientation 2018

Congratulations on your acceptance to SUNY Cobleskill! We're glad you're joining us. All new students are required to attend an Orientation session of your choice. We have four sessions throughout the summer break to get you acclimated to SUNY Cobleskill’s culture and community. Orientation serves as a transitional point from when you were admitted to beginning your career at SUNY Cobleskill. During this time, you will meet with other new students, Orientation Leaders, faculty and staff to learn all about our campus community as well as get ready for your new home away from home.

Spots are limited, so make sure to register early to guarantee your date preference. More details, including a full orientation schedule, will be available later in the spring.

We’ve outlined some experiences first-year students will have during this program:

Learn what makes our campus and community so unique, whether it's exploring the farm on campus or talking to Orientation Leaders about their experiences. Learn all about your new College and how to best settle-in for the new academic year.

TIP: Explore all of the campus on your free time.

We want you to be fully prepared for life on Coby’s campus. Your Orientation Leader will guide you through campus so you’ll get to know your peers and talk with staff members, student workers, and faculty. You will stay overnight in one of our residence halls on campus, which will benefit you in several ways. This will be the first opportunity to spend the night on campus as an OFFICIAL SUNY Cobleskill student! This will also give you the opportunity to understand what daily life will be like living on campus, and give you a closer look at your future living space. You will see that learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom, one of our core principles here at the College.

TIP: During your stay, create a list of ‘must-have’ items you’ll need to help you live and sleep most comfortably. You can compare your list to the "Things to Bring" list we recommend on our Residential Life webpage.

Get started on your checklist of pre-semester To-Do's before you leave summer orientation. Remember, the more you can accomplish during your orientation, the less time you will need to get settled in August when you return.

TIP: Speak to your Orientation Leader to see if you may have any "holds" on your account. Orientation Leaders can direct you to the proper office to clear any holds you may have.
