Associate Degree Requirements
To qualify for the A.A., A.S., A.A.S. or A.O.S. degree, the candidate must complete a minimum of 66 credits, must meet the course and distributive requirements of his/her program and must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00. No developmental courses may be applied toward the 66 credits needed for graduation. Two Associate degrees cannot be awarded in the same semester. |

Mathematics Competency
Mathematics competency is required of all A.A., A.S., A.A.S., B.B.A., B.Tech. and B.S. degree candidates. The requirement can be satisfied by any one of the following:
1. |
The student passing any one of the sections of the placement tests from Elementary Algebra through College Algebra which would demonstrate that the student is prepared to study college-level mathematics. |
2. |
The student having been placed into MATH 101X or MATH 101, passing MATH101X or MATH 101 with a “C–” (at least 69.5% average) or higher. |

Note: Passing MATH 101X or MATH 101 with at least a “C–” SATISFIES the Mathematics Competency requirement, but DOES NOT SATISFY a mathematics requirement which may be necessary in the student's degree program. |
3. |
The student achieving at least a 75 on the New York State Course III or MATH B regents. |
4. |
The student passing a college-level mathematics course (a MATH course having at least 3 credits and a number of 103 or higher). |
5. |
The registrar granting three or more transfer credits in mathematics. |
6. |
The registrar accepting Advanced Placement credit in mathematics (a score of 3 or higher). |

Bachelor Degree Requirements
To qualify for a Bachelor's degree, the candidate must complete a minimum of 126 credits according to the course and distributive requirements of the program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00. The Associate and Bachelor of Technology degrees cannot be awarded in the same semester. |

School of Business Academic Policy
To qualify for the A.S., A.A.S., A.O.S., B.B.A. or B.T. degree in any business program, candidates must complete, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00, all required and elective courses bearing major field course prefixes. |

Early Childhood Division Academic Policy
To qualify for the A.A.S., A.S. or B.S. degree in the Early Childhood Division, candidates must earn a grade of “C” or better in all major field requirements. Courses with “C-,” “D” or “F” grades must be repeated at the first available opportunity. |

Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism Division Policy
To qualify for the A.A.S., A.O.S. or B.B.A. degree in any Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Tourism Division program, candidates must complete all required and elective courses with prefixes of CAHT, HOTL and TRAV with a minimum GPA of 2.00. |

Residence Credit
Courses completed successfully while enrolled as a degree seeking student at this College constitute residence credit. Students who successfully challenge courses may not use these credits towards residency requirements. Successful challenge credit is applied toward degree requirements as transfer credit. |

Residence Credit Requirements—Associate Degree
Associate degree requirements include a minimum of 33 credit hours in residence, i.e., 50 percent of the minimum credits required. This percentage also applies to certificate programs. |

Residence Credit Requirements—Bachelor Degree
Degree requirements include a minimum of 45 hours in residence as an upper-division student. The 15-credit hour internship is included in these 45 credit hours. |

Non-Residence Credits
Credits earned off campus are non-residence credits. No more than 33 such total credits may be applied toward degree requirements for the associate degree. No more than one-half of the major field requirements may be non-residence credits. |

Courses with 290/390 Suffix
No more than three credits in 290 courses, excluding PORT290, will be accepted toward associate degree requirements. No more that a total of six combined credits in 290/390 courses, excluding PORT290, will be accepted toward bachelor degree requirements. These courses must be added and the method in which the course will be graded must be established by the end of the third week of the semester. |

Time Limit to Meet Degree Requirements
Full-time Associate degree and Bachelor degree students unable to meet their degree requirements within four semesters will be subject to academic review. If granted the privilege to complete the degree beyond four semesters, the student will have no more than two years in which to complete the remaining requirements. Degree requirements are determined by the catalog under which the student is initially matriculated, and remain in force if the student maintains continuous matriculation. A student who discontinues enrollment for one year or more without being granted an official leave of absence, may apply for readmission and then fulfill the degree requirements in effect at that time. |

Participation in Graduation Ceremony
Since 1991, all candidates identified for graduation by the registrar may participate in the graduation ceremony. A candidate for May graduation is an associate degree student who has completed 60 credit hours in the degree area, a Bachelor degree student who has completed 120 credit hours in their field or will complete all course requirements except a summer Bachelor degree internship, or a certificate student who has completed 30 credit hours. Disclaimers will be printed in the graduation program, indicating names listed are of candidates for the degree, subject to certification of having met all degree requirements. Certification of those degree requirements will be completed by mid-June. Diplomas will be mailed to all successful graduates. |
