Nov 4, 2014 The Search Committee met for the final time on Nov. 3rd at 8:00 a.m. to discuss each of the five candidates who visited the campus. The members of the College Council, who were not members of the Search Committee, were invited to join the committee at this meeting to hear the Search Committee's discussions regarding the relative strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. Along with the information received for the off campus interviews; the committee considered the survey summary for each of the candidates, feedback from each of the sessions scheduled over the two day period for each candidate, exit interviews from each of the candidates provided by the search firm and additional reference checks. Approximately five hours later, the Search Committee forwarded four names to the College Council for consideration, along with a one page synopsis of the relative strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. As you might guess from the time involved, each candidate received a thorough review by each voting member of the Search Committee.
The College Council met immediately following for a final discussion of the four candidates forwarded from the Search Committee. The Council forwarded three of the names to Chancellor Zimpher for consideration, along with the relative strengths and weaknesses of each finalist candidate. The names cannot be ranked, all are considered acceptable. The Chancellor and her Sr. Staff will interview each of the candidates. The Chancellor then forwards her recommended candidate to the SUNY Board of Trustees. The Chancellor will announce the name of president after the next Board of Trustee's meeting on Jan. 12-13. 2015.
The names of those forwarded will not be announced to the campus. All information pertaining to the search process remains confidential. The members of the Search Committee do not know the names of the candidates forwarded to the Chancellor by the Council. The members of the College Council will not know the name of the candidate selected by the Chancellor until announced by the Chancellor.
The Search Committee truly appreciates the involvement of the campus community and the community at large in the search process and the feedback you have provided the committee—participating in the group meetings for each candidate, filling out the surveys and providing comments to members of the committee. Late Oct, 2014 The Search Committee finished the off-site interviews on Thursday, Oct. 9. On-campus visits will begin on Thursday, Oct. 16 and continue through Friday, Oct. 31. The candidate’s name will be released to the public 24-48 hours before the candidate arrives on campus along with general information about their background and qualifications. An individual schedule for each candidate will be provided to the campus early next week. Following are the dates each candidate will be visiting the campus:
Candidate One: Thursday, Oct. 16th and Friday, Oct 17th
Candidate Two: Monday, Oct. 20th and Tuesday, Oct 21st
Candidate Three: Wednesday, Oct. 22nd and Thursday, Oct. 23rd
Candidate Four: Monday, Oct. 27th and Tuesday, Oct. 28th
Candidate Five: Thursday, Oct. 30th and Friday, Oct. 31st
