commencement criteria
In 1991, the faculty established academic policy 12.10 that states that candidates identified for graduation by the registrar may participate in the graduation ceremony. The criteria for participation is as follows:
An associate degree student who has 60 credit hours completed toward degree requirements.
A bachelor degree student who has 120 credit hours completed or who will complete all course requirements except the 15-credit internship.
A certificate student who has completed 30 credit hours.
A disclaimer, printed in the graduation program, indicates that the names contained in the program are of candidates for the degree and that final certification of graduation requirements will be completed by June 1 for May graduates and by January 5 for December graduates. The SUNY Cobleskill diploma does not list the students' major - only the degree is listed.
Once the diplomas are ordered, it takes approximately eight to ten weeks for the order to be returned to SUNY Cobleskill at which time diplomas will be verified for accuracy and mailed to students at the permanent address on file with the Registrar's Office.
