Frank Lawrence - Chief of University Police
Frank Lawrence was appointed Chief of the SUNY Cobleskill University Police Department in 2008. Frank retired from the New York State Police in 1996 where he served as a member of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Prior to joining the NYSP he was employed as a member of the Little Falls, New York Police Department where he attained the rank of Sergeant. Upon his retirement from the State Police he served as Director of Campus Safety and Security and Judicial Affairs at Herkimer County Community College and most recently he served as Director of Campus Safety and Security at Onondaga Community College. Frank is a graduate of Empire State College of Saratoga, NY with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.
Dorothy Lawyer - Secretary
Dorothy has been the secretary for the Cobleskill University Police Department since 1987. Prior to that she was a replacement postal clerk at the former Lawyerville Post Office. Dorothy has an Associate's degree in Secretarial Science from SUNY Cobleskill, and one of her specialized duties for the University Police Department is the registration of all faculty, staff, and student vehicles that are brought to the campus.
Sheila Coger - Lieutenant
Sheila joined University Police Department as an officer in 1985 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1988. Before coming to Cobleskill, she was assigned for four years to SUNY Albany Public Safety Department. She was the first female officer for the University Police at Cobleskill. Sheila attended Macomb Community College and Schenectady Community College. She is a certified Police instructor and presents many programs for students during the year, especially on the topics of date rape and women's safety.
Daniel Kowalski - Lieutenant
Dan joined the University Police at SUNY Cobleskill in 1988 and was appointed to Lieutenant in 1993. His previous experience includes being a Unit Supervisor for Parsons Child Family Center in Albany. Dan has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Buffalo State College. He is a certified radar operator and certified police instructor. Lt. Kowalski enjoys interacting with the students and supports community policing efforts on campus.
John Bagdovitz - Police Officer
John was appointed to the Cobleskill University Police Department in 1986 and is a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill. He is a certified radar operator and is also one of the department's bike patrol officers. John is an advisor to the Photo Club and the Catholic Campus Ministry. John is also a certified Verbal Judo instructor.
Caitlin Gropp
Caitlyn was appointed a University Police Officer in 2010. She was a 2008 graduate of SUNY Brockport with a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice. Caitlin is presently attending the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Academy to complete her certification as a Police Officer.
Gregory McPherson - Police Officer
Greg was appointed to the University Police Department in 2005. Before coming to SUNY Cobleskill, Greg worked at the SUNY College of Westbury as a Police Officer. Greg has an AAS degree in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College. He is also a certified EMT-B. Greg enjoys the college atmosphere and he believes strongly in community policing.
Eric Poggoli - Police Officer
Eric joined the University Police Department at Cobleskill in 2009. Prior to coming to Cobleskill he has served as a University Police Officer at SUNY Potsdam since 2005. He holds an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College. Eric is a DCJS Certified Police Instructor
Thomas Rehberg - Police Officer
Thomas joined the University Police Department at Cobleskill in May 2000. Prior to that, he was employed by the NYS Department of Correctional Services as a Corrections Officer for eight years, serving in several different facilities. Thomas graduated from the State University Police Academy as the class "Top Gun." He holds an Associates Degree from SUNY Cobleskill. Officer Rehberg is also the varsity wrestling coach at SUNY Cobleskill.
Angel Reyes - Police Officer
Angel was appointed to the University Police Department in September 2000. Prior to joining this Department, he worked for 12 years for the NYS Office of Children and Family Services as a Youth Division Aide. Angel worked in facilities in the Bronx and South Kortright. He has also worked as a Spanish Court Interpreter in the Westchester County Court, and as a Corrrections Officer for the Rockland COunty Sheriff's Department and the NYS Department of Correctional Services. He has an Associate's Degree in Community and Human Services and is working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.
Mike joined the University Police Department at Cobleskill in June of 1993. Prior to that he was a Public Safety Officer at SUNY Central Administration for seven years. He has a B.A. degree in Public Justice and History from SUNY Oswego along with graduate study in Criminal Justice at SUNY Albany. He served in the U.S. Army Military Police and is certified as a Field Training Officer, Police Instructor and Instructor Evaluator.
Norman Schubert - Police Officer
Norm joined the University Police Department at Cobleskill in 1992. He has a BS degree in Business Economics and a minor in German from SUNY Oneonta. He is also a part-time road patrol Deputy with the Delaware County Sheriff's Department and holds a commission as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 with the 642nd Military Intelligence Battalion of the New York Army National Guard.
