Campus Farm Animals

SUNY Cobleskill’s high quality genetic animals are offered for sale as available throughout the year. These animals are either bred and raised on campus, or donated. SUNY Cobleskill also seeks good homes for adoption of animals when they are retired from Campus.

If you are interested in purchasing a campus animal, please contact Thomas Poltynski, Farm Coordinator, at 518.255.5615 or poltynta@cobleskill.edu. Payment can be made by cash or check in person upon picking up animals from campus. Pick-ups can be made Monday – Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm, or by appointment.

“Tempo” is a 2016 registered, large framed, well-made Quarter Horse gelding that is extremely laid back, with a great personality. He is out of PSU Dont Skipa Verse, by PSU Dynamic Krymsun. His self-carriage coupled with his ground-covering stride and slow legs make him a great all-around prospect. He is started lightly under saddle.

“Epona” is a 2015 registered, 14.2 hh flashy bay Quarter Horse mare, that is a high quality mover desired in any western event. She has a natural drive and impulsion from behind paired with the ability to lift and extend her front end. She is out of Zipped to a Te (3368354) by PSU Dynamic Krymsun. With the athleticism and high quality this filly possesses, she is bound to succeed in any western event. This mare likes to work. She is currently working regularly under saddle.

“Dallas” is a 2018 registered Quarter Horse gelding. High quality, flashy, large framed, and even-tempered are only some of the ideal characteristics possessed by this gelding. “Lacy” (Mainly Mainau OAB-A-M605) is a 2014 Dark Bay registered Trakehner filly out of the registered Trakehner mare, Mainau (ORB-A-M1923).

Lacy is an intelligent, big bodied, nice mover, who is currently working under saddle. She is a quick learner that is doing well in our program with one rider.

She is by the Thoroughbred stallion, Sea Accounts. His pedigree, career highlights and other information can be found at the web site for DeBracy Sport Horses.

Nelson – Coby's the Wanderer

"Nelson" is a flashy chestnut gelding, with lots of white, out of Endira, a German bred chestnut Hanoverian mare by the stallion Espri. Before coming to SUNY Cobleskill, Endira competed in Florida and New York, showing in the Level 3, 4, and 5 jumper classes. Endira’s sire Espri notably earned the title “The Hanoverian Stallion of the Year” in 1995.

Nelson’s sire, Glynhafan Traveler, a chestnut 2007 section B stallion (USEF permanent height card at 13.2hh) earned the title of USEF National Adult Hunter Champion in 2014. Traveler also successfully competed on the East Coast Welsh pony circuit in the English pleasure and Western pleasure.

Nelson was shown on the line as a weanling. He won his Sport Pony class and earned the title of Reserve Champion Sport Pony, qualifying him to compete at the 2017 Royal Winter Fair in Canada. At the Royal, Nelson was shown in the Half Welsh Two Year old and Under class and the Sport Pony Foal of Current Year class, placing in the top 6 in both. This colt was bred to be an athletic all around horse, perfect for the junior rider or small adult to enjoy and compete. He is registered with the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America.
