Tobacco Use Policy

In June 2012, SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, submitted a memorandum to the SUNY Board of Trustees about creating Tobacco-Free SUNY. A committee of SUNY Cobleskill faculty, staff, and students was formed in Fall 2013 to research and develop a Tobacco Free Policy for the campus. The committee utilized previous research conducted by the campus and determined the best course of action, for now, was to create a policy where tobacco may only be used in designated areas on campus. The policy was approved and distributed to the campus in August 2014.

The Tobacco Use Policy will be enforced by the entire campus community with an emphasis on education. All campus community members are expected to comply with the policy. Violations may be subject to disciplinary procedures consistent with applicable laws, rules, regulations and collective bargaining agreements.
