Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is the process through which borrowers may request material from another library’s collection, regardless of whether that library is across the street or on the other side of the world. The Van Wagenen Library offers this service to all SUNY Cobleskill faculty, staff and currently registered students in good standing. This sharing of resources allows users access to a vast pool of knowledge that would otherwise be unavailable at the local level.
Placing Requests
To request an item through Interlibrary Loan, you must first identify yourself to the library's ILLiad system. Once your account has been cleared by the ILL staff a confirmation email will be sent to your Cobleskill email address. You can then begin to submit and track your Interlibrary Loan requests by logging on to ILLiad.
ILLiad login for SUNY Cobleskill students, faculty, and staff.
ILLiad institutional login for CDLC libraries.
Request Forms
Interlibrary Loan request forms are available electronically via your ILLiad account. If you select this method, please remember to fill out as much of the information as possible.
Processing Requests
The processing of your ILL request can range from one day to several weeks. Although long delays and unfilled requests are extremely uncommon, factors such as availability, location and media type may influence our ability to obtain the item for you. Please take this into consideration when selecting materials and consult with a Librarian if time is a constraint.
Interlibrary Loan Notification and Pickup
Borrowers will be notified through their Cobleskill campus email address when their materials are available for viewing via Ariel, our electronic document delivery system, or in-house pickup. Items awaiting pickup will be held under the requestor’s name for up to 7 days at the Circulation Desk. If they remain unclaimed after this time, they will be returned to the lending library.
Penalties for Overdue Material
Interlibrary Loan items are subject to the same penalties as those of our own materials such as late fines, replacement costs, academic holds, and suspension of borrowing privileges. The current fine rate of ILL materials is $1.00 per day/item.
